Arealfag
Forskningsgruppen i arealfag arbeider med fysisk planlegging, by- og tettstedsplanlegging, stedsanalyser, bærekraftig byutvikling, arealplanlegging, fortetting, estetikk, byggeskikk, arkitektur, kulturminnevern og landskapsarkitektur. Vi jobber også med transformasjon av byområder, infrastruktur og mobilitet, Space syntax og vegnettanalyser, samt universell utforming.
Forskningsgruppen spenner over temaer fra naturvitenskap, samfunnsvitenskap, rettsvitenskap og humaniora.
Når vi forsker på bebygde omgivelser er det sammenhengene mellom brukere og de bebygde omgivelsene vi er mest opptatt av. Vi utforsker hvordan flere faktorer i sum påvirker de fysiske omgivelsene som etablerer rammer for menneskers liv og virke.
For å innhente kunnskap om sammenhenger og analysere disse, bryter vi ofte ned problemstillingen til noe konkret som kan observeres på lokalt eller regionalt nivå, fra flere synsvinkler.
Vi studerer for eksempel hvordan bygninger kan bli mer energieffektive, hvordan gater bør utformes for å skape et godt bomiljø, og på bydeler og sammenhengen mellom plangjennomføring og eiendomsstruktur. Vi forsker også på nasjonale og internasjonale bærekraftmål og hvordan disse påvirker arealplanleggingen lokalt, og hvordan geografiske informasjonssystemer påvirker beslutningsprosesser knyttet til plan- og byggesaker.
Gruppen sitt arbeid kjennetegnes av en tverrfaglig tilnærming til spørsmål som berører bebygde og ubebygde omgivelser, der ulike metoder brukes for å belyse dagsaktuelle spørsmål.
Mye av forskningen til medlemmene i denne gruppen blir også brukt i undervisningen, både på bachelor- og masternivå. Vi jobber med forskningsorientert undervisning og problembasert læring.
