Admission and how to apply
Admission
At least 120 ECTS credits, i.e. 2 years of academic study within one of the fields of life sciences/ecology, earth sciences/geography or environmental sciences at the time of the application. A successful participation in the semester programme “From Mountain to Fjord” would be of advantage.
NOTE: Admission requires a pre-agreement on supervision of the science project and the Bachelor thesis with an HVL-supervisor and, if applicable, the student’s home institution.
Admission to HVL
Teaching semester: Autumn or Spring
The environmental data provide the opportunity to choose a Bachelor Thesis within environmental sciences. In addition, a Science Project offers a methodological approach to manage scientific data. During the spring semester, a course in Climate Change might replace the Science Project.
The course consists of two main modules
Either spring semester:
- ME350 Science project (10 ECTS) or GE483 Climate change (10 ECTS) – elective
- EN491 Bachelor thesis (20 ECTS)
or autumn semester:
- ME350 Science project (10 ECTS)
- EN491 Bachelor thesis (20 ECTS)
Study methods
Practical and theoretical supervision in the field, laboratory, and when writing the Bachelor Thesis. The course in Climate Change consists of ordinary lectures, while the Science Project bases on personal supervision.
The language of instruction is in English.
