Network and printing
On campus, we offer both wireless network and printing services for students and employees. See below for information about the different options and how you can make use of them.
Students log in using studentnumber@stud.hvl.no and the password for your HVL user account.
Employees log in using username@hvl.no and the password for your HVL user account.
You need to have an active user account to access your email.
You can use the "Eduroam cat tool" to automatically set up the settings:
Go to https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=1713
For Android devices, the app must be installed from the Google Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.ac.swansea.eduroamcat&hl=en&gl=US Click the "Download your eduroam profile" button. Run the downloaded file. Enter your username and password. Note: The username must be entered as follows: studentnumber@stud.hvl.no Press install.
DNS Firewall
When connected to HVL's network, the network traffic passes through a DNS firewall (Cisco Umbrella).
A DNS firewall is a filter that protects users from accessing malicious websites and prevents them from being tricked into providing sensitive information such as payment information and passwords.
The service blocks access to malicious domains and redirects users to a safe landing page with a notification. Users are then prevented from proceeding to avoid harm.
The DNS firewall is not censorship of where you surf the internet.
If you have trouble accessing a website that you believe is safe, you can request access to the website.
This information is available on the landing page you will be directed to, or you can contact it-hjelp@hvl.no.
If you encounter problems, try the following:
Select Eduroam under networks. Right-click and choose forget/remove network. Then try to connect to Eduroam again.
Android mobile phone
On Android mobile phones, in some cases, it may be necessary to ensure that the security settings are configured correctly. They should be as follows:
EAP method: PEAP Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2 CA certificate: Do not validate Domain: "hvl.no" (not required on all phones) MAC address type: Phone MAC (not necessary on all phones)
