Field of work
I am a trained primary school teacher (grades 1-10) with extensive experience working with children and youth in schools, extracurricular activities, and the foster care system. Due to my growing interest in mental health, I pursued further education in 2018 by taking a course in psychosocial work with children and youth at HVL (Høgskulen på Vestlandet). I integrated this education into my master’s degree in Health-Promoting Relationship Work (2022).
I have been particularly focused on the concept of the “team around the student” and how various services can and should collaborate to support children and youth facing complex challenges.
Relevant topics I have explored include health promotion for children and youth, risk and protective factors, attachment, trauma-informed care, regulation work, trauma-sensitive approaches in practice, conversations with children, school refusal/absenteeism, collaboration, communication, interaction, and service development
