Department of Language, Literature, Mathematics and Interpreting
The Department of Language, Literature, Mathematics and Interpreting has staff and students in Bergen, Sogndal and Stord. The department has approximately 160 employees, nearly seven per cent are professors and 69 per cent associate professors .
The department provides teaching at all levels: Kindergarten teacher education, the primary school teacher education and in the bachelor education in sign language and interpretation. In addition, the department provides one-year study in English, master's programs in teaching science and master's programs in children's and young people's literature.
The department is a major contributor to various continuing and further education, including Regional and Decentralized competence development (ReKomp and DeKomp), interpretation in the public sector and quality for competence. The department also contributed to the doctoral program Program Education and Didactic Practitioners.
The department has many research groups and is involved in several of the strategic research programs at the Faculty of Teacher Education, Culture and Sports. Our research environment that is known nationally and internationally.
The staff at the department publish research that is relevant to our educations and take part in national and international research projects. The department aims to be at the forefront of school and kindergarten-based knowledge development.
